Intense meritorious potentials in tamil language and literature.. Paramathma ji was spending most of his "51" years of life as a saint, yogi and realised soul. Has travelled the entire length & breadth of “Akhanda Bharath” from small village to prominent cities. By various discourses, preachings manthra upadesams helped the massess to attain salvation with no discrimination. By virtue, he is an effective ‘Orator’, wonderful singer and a poet. In a nut shell swamiji is an extraordinary personality.
Swami Vilakshanananda- the eternal light walked in this earth in the tail end of the nineteenth century and first half of the twentieth century was a Spiritual Genius and Social reformer. His glorious life itself imparts great lessons illuminating and enlightening us. He also did patriotic services. I hereby highlight some of the salient features in his life as I gathered from the texts available and with my personal experience as a devotee.

He has taken care of his devotee’s physical & mental problems. Being a unique saint, he had control over all the 5 elements of nature. Swamiji has done penance mostly in hilly region and caves.
HE WAS ALSO FOUND IN “NIRVIKALPA SAMADHI” UNDER EARTH & WATER.
Swamiji has shown that the self-lustrous illumination, The GOD, could be reached by anybody irrespective of caste, community, sex and the so called monitary status. He had preached extensively the moolamanthra of Lord Venkateshwara, his Upanishad consisting of the Atharvaseerisham and Kavacham. He was totally a travelling and preaching monk not possessing anything except these assets.
He was born, down South in Tamil Nadu in a village called Hanumanthapatti,Theni District, Madurai, in the year 1894 after a prolonged penance by his parents Smt. SUNDARAVALLI and Sriman RANGA SWAMI for 3 years in the 7 hills of Lord Srinivasa as directed by him.
Interesting is to bring to the notice of the readers the truth, about his blessed mother to whom he was born viz, Smt. SUNDARAVALLI, who had the vision of MAHAVISHNU and felt The God assuming the form of a light entering her womb before conception.
He was named after the Lord as SRINIVASAN in his POORVASHRAM. This child used to roam around SURABI hills with its waterfalls, befriending the Siddhas living in caves in and around that place.
After he grew up into a lad. he went to Northern India and stayed with quite a few "Yogis" for sometimes. He was duly married according to the wish of his parents to his own cousin sister Smt. RANGANAYAKI and had a daughter "ALAMELLU" followed by a grand-daughter "VEDAVALLI" who is being referred with a particular context.

செல்வ செழிப்பிலும், மேதாவிலாசத்திலும், அருட்கடலாய் தமிழ்புலமையிலும் திளைத்து வந்த வம்சத்தில் ஸ்ரீனிவாசனாக அவதரித்த பரமாத்மாஜி தாம் வாழ்ந்த 51 ஆண்டுகளில் பெரும் பகுதியை துறவியாக, யோகியாக, ஞானியாக இப்பூவுலகில் அகண்ட பாரதம் முழுவதும் குறிப்பாக தென்னிந்தியாவில் பட்டி, தொட்டிகளிலும் சஞ்சரித்து நம்மை உய்விக்க பற்பல உபந்யாசங்களும், உபதேசங்களும், மந்திர, ஜெப, தப பிரச்சாரங்களும் செய்தார். ஒரே நேரத்தில் 5 -6 ஊர்களில் வெவ்வேறு விஷயங்களைக் குறித்து உபந்யாஸம் செய்தார். அடியார்களின் நோய்களையும், பலவிதமான வாழ்வியல் பிரச்சனைகளையும் எளிதாகத் தீர்த்து அவர்தம் துன்பங்களை களைந்தார். அட்சய பாத்திரமாக பக்தர்களுக்கான பிரசாதம் பெருகச் செய்தார். பதிகம் பாடி மழை வரச் செய்தார். பதிகம் பாடி பெய்த மழையை நிறுத்தவும் செய்தார். காடு, மலை, குகைகளிலும் தவமியற்றிய பரமாத்மாஜி நீரின் மீது "ஜலஸ்தம்பனம் " செய்தும் அவ்வாறே நீருக்கடியிலும், நிலத்தின் அடியிலும் பல காலம் நிஷ்டையில் இருந்துள்ளார்.

Soon after his marriage on a rainy day at the dead of the night he heard an unseen voice calling him thrice to " LEAVE the house in search of truth" . He discovered his GURU by name " NITYANANDA AVADHUTHA PARAMA YOGEESWARA " at the PARAMAYOGASHRAM on the banks of Ganges about twelve miles from Sangam and became his ardent disciple. After this, he came down to Southern part of India and was mostly associated with The Lord of Seven Hills. He frequented the caves in and around seven hills, Srisailam, Badrinath etc. doing penance intermittently. He had the vision of Lord Venkateswara during one of these spiritual practices, and this involvement of Swamiji with the Lord is reflected in all his writings. But he had written a lot of devotional songs relating to all the other deities from Lord Ganesha onwards. Had been visiting individually almost many places in Tamil Nadu conveying spiritual ideas to the people with the returns he got with his penance,and helped a lot of poor people, diseased, mentally deranged etc. to come out of their sufferings. Inspite of not being interested he had done very many miracles and people had been cured. According to the request of the people in the very many places where he stayed, he used to preach Gnanavasishtam, Kaivalyam, Bhagavath Geetha, etc apart from many examples quoted from our epics like "Ramayana" and "MahaBharatha". Swamiji was a splendid orator and writer. The audience will be spell bound during his discourses. He was a wonderful singer with a beautiful base voice. He used to sing with a harmonium sruthi. He had written books, devotional songs, and discourses in the form of booklets, to the tune of "720 publications". There were anecdotes where people especially his grand-daughter has quoted an occasion that Swamiji was giving speeches simultaneously in 3 places. I know a family where one Smt. Rukmani Ammal has experienced Swamiji as the incarnation of Lord Srinivasa in her vision. Swamiji’s own uncle Madurakavi SrinivasaIyengar had written a devotional song with the same interpretation.
I have seen people coming to him presenting their sufferings physical and mental. Swamiji used to tell them to write a request presenting their problem. Next day he would give in writing about the remedy as Lord Venkateswara’s command “VENKATESHWARA UTHTHARAVU” as pariharam.

There were many times where he had taken his devotees in large numbers by walk, to a cave in a place at Kumaradhara waterfalls staying there for a day or two. He used to give his advices and preachings at that place. The names of all the families individually had been inscribed on the stone cult as directed by him. He had given lot of manthradeeksha to many disciples including me. I was very fortunate to have been blessed by him. Literally,he calling me just like that in one of those days accidentally at my residence in 1942 July from a balcony above our house sit out, when I was hardly 11 years.
In Chennai at a place called Adambakkam close to Guindy, apart from daily pooja followed by Yoga teaching in the pooja hall, Every 2nd Sunday in the evening one and a half hours (between 4 and 6 p.m.) poojas were being conducted till COVID epidemic. So also Swamijis Jayanthi is celebrated here within 10 days after the stipulated date. This place is well known as Yoga Prayaga for the locals and also in the references concerned with that.

This great Saint who had no possession except his divine assets, attained Samadhi on a Friday the 16th November 1945. For this great philosopher, preacher and spiritual teacher who had spent these 51 years of his existence in the world, is in Jeeva Samadhi at a place called MELMAYIL, a small village near KATPADI. The Samadhi is being visited by lot of devotees from different places. People who have spiritual experience can feel the vibrations when they meditate there. People who look for material returns also are benefitted.
The ardent devotees of Swamiji who did not want to be publicized, built the Samadhi. But it is unfair not to mention the great devotees like Sriman. Bashiyam,. Sivaramayya, Smt. Jayammal and so many other large hearted followers.
So to sum up devotees frequenting the Samadhi get Swamijis blessings and get rid of their sufferings. Hence it is worth giving a call to the entire humanity to visit the Samadhi and attain salvation with Swamijis blessings.
