Swamiji was a born poet. He has composed various lyrics in praise of almost all the God and Goddesses but majority of the compositions are in praise of Lord VENKATESWARA, KRISHNA, MAHA VISHNU, etc.

We here by highlight some of them indicating their context:

1. BAGHAVATH GITA: This is written in the form of a LALABHI (Thalatu) as 100 stanzas each of 2 lines. I was really fortunate to hear Swamiji personally singing and giving a discourse of the same.

2. PATRIOTIC SONGS: The composition (i) INDIA: This consist of the praise of our country’s greatness describing our heritage, natural beauties, spiritualists from North to South and touching here and there about epics and Gods. (ii) BHARATHA DESAM: This is a lengthy description India about every aspect evalution of the history and freedom movement, traditions, culture, ancient literature, popular people in various spheres.

  3. LORD VISHNU AND HIS AVATHARS

i. VENKATESWARA THIRUPATHIGAM: Lord of SEVEN hills – describes the sceneries of the seven hills with various similes in context to the seven hills like Aadhi Sesha forming his seat namely SESHADHRI. He figures out Venkateswara’s form from head to foot and also requesting the Lord to salvage from all the evils of worldly existence.

ii. GUNASHEELA PATHIKAM:This is about Lord VENKATESWARA of Gunasheelapuram in Trichy district. The name Gunaseelapuram was in context to Muni Gunaseela who had performed penance here. This particular temple is noted to cure people who are possessed. It is said that people can give their offering here in case they are unable to go to THIRUMALA.

iii. THABO NADHAM: This consists of 64 songs written on the occasion of Swamiji going for a penance at KUMARADHARA. As he was climbing the seven hills he describes the austerities followed for a penance apart from besieging the Lord for a detached attitude and seeking only his blessings for realization.

iv. Lord KRISHNA – PARTHASARATHY: Here there are various sannidhis and consist of eleven songs again a pathigam describing the main sanctorum of – Parthasarathy, Ranganatha, Rama, Vardharaja and Lord Narashimha. The life of Lord KRISHNA from his birth describing all his life with miracles and his preachings also described. He is also written Hyms in name of Vinayaka, Subramaniya, Lord Siva, Devi, etc.

IN PRAISE OF SWAMIJI A few of the collections are namely by SHANMUGA MUTHAIYYAR – THIRU ARUZHIL SAMUGA STHUTHI, Sri Vilakshanananda Thiru Pathikam, unknown authors written AKSHARA MALLIKA.
